Hard on the Body,
Easy on the Soul

The desk where man sits,
The chairs & stiff backbones.
The cars, easy to roam.
The food, delivered home.
The life of AI, AC, & phones.
Easy it may be,
Yet souls ache & groan.
Happiness seems to allude,
Fulfillment, just out of reach.
In classrooms, they teach.
The heart, they leach.
To kids, they preach,
“Sit still, be quiet!”
Masculinity is shamed,
Docile, castrated, & tamed.
Law abiding, regulated, restrained.
Suffering, suicide, & depression take hold.
Aimless & lost,
Why live, what’s the point?
Heavy’s the weight,
Yet light the load.
It’s easy on the body, yet hard on the soul.
It makes no sense,
Why work, where do we go?
What’s worthy of life? One may ask.
Well, we should listen and we should ask.
In what image were we made?
Through the scriptures, it’s been scrolled.
In the image of God, we’ve been told.
The roots, will teach.
The gospel, He’ll answer.
The purpose of man,
It’s a God given plan.
It’s a difficult road,
One of truth, courage, & passion.
The command of the King-
To govern, subdue the earth.
To fight for good, resist evil.
To be fruitful, multiply, make love.
To serve Him above,
To sacrifice.
To be human, romantic, in love.
To lay down our lives,
To let go of our own devise.
So today, will we harken, & will we obey?
Or will we cower, & will we evade?
Seek Him first, & he’ll come to our aid.
In Him, we find rest.
Hard on the body, yet easy on the soul.
This is why we live, this is the goal.
Come what may, no matter the pay,
In Him, our life is made whole.
Worthy of life, is each human soul.
