Fighters Fight

Ding-ding-ding

Sounds the bell ring.

It’s the end of round 14.

He can’t see.

His eyes are swollen.

His nose, bashed & broken.

His arms, they hang by a thread.

He can hardly stand or lift his head.

His body drips with red,

He’s one heart tick away from dead.

Pain, pain, pain.

Gut wrenching pain.

His body says stop,

His spirit says, I will not.

His legs tell him to drop,

But he won’t submit,

He refuses to quit,

He won’t stop, swap, or sit.

Ding-ding-ding

Sounds the bell ring.

It’s time for round 15.

The fighter rises & stands.

Toe to toe,

Chest to chest,

Three more punches land.

One, two, three,

Whack, smack, crack

His face hits the mat.

Six, seven, eight,

The fighter awakes,

Nine seconds have passed,

Until the final bell, he must last.

He climbs the ropes,

Pulls up from down,

Onto his feet,

He’ll finish the round.

Fighters fight,

They fight until they’re dead.

Fighters fight,

They get knocked down,

Then get right back up again.

Fighters fight,

They fight until they’re dead,

Then they get right back up, and do it all again.
