Red-Blooded American

He’s a red-blooded American.
He wears boots & guns.
He works the ranch, rides horses,
& teaches his sons.
He eats red meat,
He farms his land,
He harvests his wheat,
& carries the weight by hand.
“Don’t tread on me”
Is stamped on his boots,
It’s stitched to his jeans.
“Give me liberty, or give me death!”
Is ingrained in his roots,
It’s written in his genes.
He waters the tree of liberty,
With the blood of the body of the free.
To none but God, will he ever bow his knee.
He loves his country,
Hates the government.
He loves his freedom,
Hates the corruption.
He’s not controllable,
He stands against tyrants.
He speaks boldly, protected by the 1st.
He wields the 2nd, & prepares for the worst.
He’s a free man,
He’ll do whatever he can,
To protect that right,
The patriot will spill his blood, struggle, resist, & fight.
His ancestors sacrificed their lives,
For his liberty, freedom, & rights.
They became outlaws, criminals,
They were traitors to the crown.
They would be proud,
If he rebelled, & refused to back down.
They would be honored,
If he remembered their story,
If he took up the flag they once carried,
When the red, white, & blue, came together, united & married.
1776, on the 4th of July,
They penned the finale, live free, or die.
When they signed the declaration,
It was to rise against the pine,
It was to bleed for freedom,
To shout, & to cry,
“No retreat, hold the line, hold the line!”
1776, on the 4th of July,
The red-blooded American was born,
And he was born to defy.
