What Moves The Soul

What moves the soul,
What brings us to life?
What stirs our spirit,
When our hearts ignite?
What’s worth doing,
What if we died tonight?
Men inherently know this truth,
Though forgotten, or stored away.
It’s revealed in youth,
By The Fathers spirit, it’s conveyed.
It’s honor & self-denial.
It’s virtue, courage,
Heroics, & trials.
It’s usually tough,
It’s truth, quite costly enough.
To stand when opportunities arise,
To bravely fight for others,
Even though we may suffer & die.
It’s a humble heart, gentle & lowly.
It’s loyalty & faith, with steadfast devotion.
It’s ardent allegiance, to the One who is holy.
It’s a servant’s heart,
To love, lead, & respect our wives,
To protect our children, & lay down our own lives.
To woo our women,
To become a man,
To take responsibility,
The sacrificial lamb.
To exalt our brides,
Tender hearts of beauty,
To yield our own comfort,
That we may fulfill our duty.
When war marches toward,
When darkness arrives, banging, hammering at our door.
To overcome adversity,
It’s ruthless tenacity,
Day after day, time after time,
To persevere, stoic, unspoken.
Night after night, again & again,
Even when we’re weary & broken,
Over & over, again & again.
To forge stamina, lift, & stand,
To wield the sword, with an iron gripped hand.
Respond or run,
Contend or refuse,
We all choose.
The danger’s substantial.
It’s romantic love,
& pursuit of the damsel.
In a world of ease,
Full of gambling & porn,
Phones, games, & movies.
Easy paths wherein,
Passions devoid,
We’re always seeking,
Hoping to fill that void-
The void within man,
The void of the soul,
The void of the spirit,
When the heart grows cold.
Young man-
Find hope again.
To sustain the heart, the heart of man,
Become the player, not the fan.
To bring forth lasting zeal,
The stakes must be real.
No! Not of a foolish gambler, or a weak bystander,
But of a humble candor, a wise & meek commander.
For it is true, no simulation can match.
Without stakes,
There’s no courage in that.
Though times may be few,
When heroics are needed.
When we face danger,
And cannot cede it.
Be prepared, prudent, & steady.
Train the mind, aggression ready.
When the moment arrives,
It’s a fleeting dash,
It comes & goes,
Bright like a flash.
Now it’s time, time to act.
Awaken & rise,
Find strength & endurance,
Ignite the spirit & come alive.
Make no mistake,
There are things worse than death,
To forfeit the soul for one more breath.
We all have strength to give,
All men die,
Not all men live.
